Rechargeable batteries why 1.2 volts
Most equipment will work happily on anything between 0. Unlike alkaline batteries where the voltage drops quickly, rechargeable batteries offer a more constant voltage around 1. That is why the latest rechargeable batteries will actually outperform alkaline batteries in equipment calling for a constant and high level of energy input, such as digital cameras, flashes, camcorders, computer keyboards and mice, portable phones, DVD players, toys, gadgets - well just about anything.
You should never attempt to recharge a normal alkaline throwaway battery in any of our NiMH battery chargers as this could result in leakage from the battery and damage to the charger. There are some battery charges that claim to be able to recharge throwaway batteries but alkaline single use batteries have not been designed to be recharged and in our experience such chargers should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Our advice would always be that if you want to recharge batteries invest in proper rechargeable batteries which have been designed to be recharged hundreds of times with consistently reliable performance. When charging rechargeable batteries, they can noticebly increase in temperature due to internal resistance and the charging process in general and batteries therefore may feel warm during charging and when the charge is completed.

Frequently Asked Questions. Chargers Show All Chargers.. Clocks Show All Clocks.. Other Items.. If you know what these codes mean, you will understand the difference between batteries even if they look the same. The symbols are determined by the size of the dry-cell battery.
The following sizes are available. This limitation does not apply to rechargeable batteries, because nickel-metal hydride batteries can be used anytime if they are electrically charged.
However, lithium batteries, nickel-metal hydride batteries, and Ni-Cd batteries are stronger in colder temperatures than manganese batteries, so are suited for cameras and other devices often used outdoors. What about connecting two or more batteries?
Do not mix batteries of different capacities, types, or brands. Also, do not mix dry and rechargeable batteries. Finally, when using rechargeable batteries, ensure that all batteries were charged at the same time. What is the difference between alkaline and manganese batteries?
In Japan, Europe and the United States, high-powered alkaline batteries are the norm, but from a global perspective, cheap manganese and Dry batteries are the most commonly used. Let's take a look at the differences. For devices requiring a small current load, such as remote controllers. Dry batteries consist of three materials: metal, metal oxide, and electrolyte.
Manganese dioxide is used for the positive electrode, zinc chloride for the electrolyte, and zinc for the negative electrode. Suitable for devices that use high continuous current. Alkaline batteries produce higher current than manganese. This is because the electrolyte consists of potassium hydroxide, an alkaline-aqueous solution that enables a high flow of current.
What should I look out for when recharging batteries for the first time? When you use a battery for the first time, or a battery that has been unused for a long period, it may not be necessarily charged fully. In this case, fully discharge and charge the battery times. Had same question I tried 1. Go ahead and start using that rechargeable battery it will be a little help to environment.

It's not much different than trying to use an exhausted alkaline cell. On the other hand, it's very possible the the mouse just won't work, or wouldn't work for very long, due to the low voltage.
