Please fill in this field. You have been successfully registered for our daily newsletter. Rishi was my first introduction to the music industry and he taught me the ropes. I also witnessed and experienced humility and grace from him. He was already an established name in the scene and was always very humble and hard-working. I hope I have also carried on these traits throughout the years.
I have been trying to be creative and think outside the box, since writing and recording and performing music is usually how I spend my days. Some of the content has actually come through this quarantine.
I think if you look hard enough every day you can find something to focus on that you can be grateful for. That can shift our state of mind. And then she names something that she is enjoying, or that makes her happy in that moment. Practising gratitude is just that - practice. It has to become second nature. I would be interested in doing music for upcoming movies, once we are allowed to make them!
Celebrity singer-songwriter Jay Sean recently performed some of his finest hit songs on the Instagram page of Vh1 India. He also answered many questions posed by his fans. Sean grew up in Hounslow in the western part London and started his hobby of rapping at the age of 11, in a hip-hop duo called " Compulsive Disorder ".
And that put me into writing, because I just wanted to write raps. I used to go and find instrumentals when I was around 13, and I would write my own rhymes and record my own mixtapes. I started progressing from rap…I would start to add melody. I would add some melody, and before I knew it, I was singing.
Then I started doing verses where I was singing, and that turned into doing whole songs. So it happened very organically…I went from writing raps into writing songs. None of us expected it would be a number one U. So to be honest, we were all playing catch-up. How did you decide to bring in Lil Wayne on this song? He can sit so comfortably on a pop record, and at the same time he can sit so comfortably on a hard, urban record. It was just that well-written. A lot of times, the melody and the lyric will come to me at the same time.
I will start humming the melody and the lyric will come. Me and Jared wrote so many of those songs on that album together.
It was just a winning team…we worked really well together. Can you talk about those projects? I listened to a lot different music when I growing up. With All or Nothing , I was doing more high-energy, uptempo super pop. So with my mixtape The Mistress , it was me putting out music that I was missing. I especially love those slow jams and emotional records.
It was like, I wanted to do a sideline project, where I just did something that I wanted to do. It was a passion project.
